Andy Young is the founder of Aldershot Amateur Boxing Club, a former member of HM Forces who served in 5 Airborne Brigade in the Parachute Signal Squadron is an ex boxer and now head coach. Aldershot ABC has been re-established after an absence of almost 30 years. We are a non-profit making organization, registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and to keep the events such as our boxing shows successful, we rely on fund raising and local business sponsors.
Aldershot ABC would not be Aldershot ABC without Dean Barnett who joined the club in the summer of 2022. He is a dedicated member of the Aldershot team, and we are extremely lucky to have such an experienced senior coach at the club. It is without a doubt that Barney's in-depth experience of boxing and wider contacts in the boxing community that has led to the club being where it is today.
All of our coaches are volunteers; they are Enhanced DBS cleared and are qualified in First Aid, Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Equality and Equity in Sport through the governing body of England Boxing. We cater for beginners, developing boxers and ABA Carded boxers. We hold club sparring for those who want to take part to gain experience to become an ABA Carded Boxer able to compete in the National ABA Junior and Senior boxing championships
